POIO is an Ancient Chamorro practice of training deep-water bottom fish to feed from a chumming device called a poio. Each day the poio is lowered just a little closer to the surface, training the fish to rise from the bottom. After about 2 weeks the fish rise close enough to the surface to be scooped up with a large round net.
